As the school lay silent on our Remembrance Day memorial, you could hear the sound of the Last Post expertly played. Our school Combined Cadet Force, and the whole of the school community stood in silence to mark the day when we remember lives lost in conflict.

Students in each school house were given the opportunity to design a wreath and express in their own words how they remember those that have been lost in war.

After judging took place, our life size model of our Remembrance Day soldier took centre stage surrounded by red poppies and an array of colourful wreaths.

When students arrived at school on the 10 November they were welcomed by this emotive display.

At 11 o’clock, students, staff and The John Warner School Combined Cadet Force paid their respect during the two minutes silence in tribute to those lost during the conflict.

Rachel Brindley, Interim Headteacher said “I could not be more proud of our school. Over 1,000 students and colleagues conducted themselves throughout our Remembrance Service with appropriate respect, attention and care. The event showed our community in its very best light as we remembered those who have died in order that we might live”.
